I took a deep breath and I boarded that plane. I flew ‘cross the ocean to the land of Pele, goddess of volcanoes, adorned with a lei. The sky was dark, the mystery deep. My eyes saw no proof, till after the first night’s sleep. I woke to the call of an unfamiliar bird. It’s song unlike any my ears had ever heard. When I looked out of my new window for the very first time, my heart beamed with joy. The sight was sublime. Shades of green leaves and a hazy blue sky. The fresh island air made me feel more alive.
